Orkuvirki is electrical engineering and contractor company with products and services for utilities, energy producers and industry.

The company employs a diverse group of experts; engineers, technically educated electcians and mecanics, and skilled workers.

Our main operation is in the field of power industry and includes:

· Design, production and installation of electrical equipment in power plants and utility companies

Our main specialty is:

· High voltage switchyards, supply of equipment, design, installation, testing anc communication

· design and production of type tested medium voltage cubicles

· design and production of low voltage switcboards (agent for low voltage swithcboard from the manufacture Eaton Holec in Denmark)

· design and service of control and protection equipment including communication gateways

· service and maintenance of electrical equipment

Orkuvirki was founded in 1975 by several electrical contractors and technicians at the capital area. The main purpose of the company was to deal with projects together which were too large for individual contractors. The company’s operations were not continuous until 1994. Until then, bids were made for works that suited the company and those bids and projects constructed.

In 1994 Orkuvirki became the full property of Tryggva Þórhallsson and his family. From 2003 the owners were Tryggvi Þórhallsson, Þórhallur Tryggvason and Kristján Guðmundsson and following Magnús Tryggvason, Stefnir Þ Kristinsson,Guðmundur Sigvaldason and Tryggvi Þórhallson have since joined the group of owners.

After nearly 50 years of successful operation, the business is divided into design, engineering and own production of high-voltage circuit breaker cubicles and low-voltage switchboards together with the installation and service of power plants and utilities.

In collaboration with others, Orkuvirki has also been responsibily of projects in other areas of industry. Our own production is mainly type-tested circuit breaker cubicles for high voltage, 12 kV. Orkuvirki is agent for low voltage equipment from the panel manufacturer Eaton Holec in Denmark. The most used switchboards is the type Tabula.

Orkuvirki is one of the most experienced electrical engineering company in Iceland and has considerable experience in the mecanical field. The company has always been able to find the right partner for cooperation to deliver benefits for the clients.
